Rising from Ashes Foundation Launches!

RFA Family -

You are the engine room. You are one of our closest supporters and the inspiration behind forming the Rising from Ashes Foundation. Because audiences around the world leaned in, because you desired to engage and support the powerful growth of cycling in Africa as a tool for peace, we could not ignore the opportunity to deepen our commitment. The movie has become a catalyst for meaningful action, and we have only scratched the surface of where this incredible journey will lead us next.

Today we launch the Rising from Ashes Foundation and web platform with a simple model:

  • Gather communities to watch Rising from Ashes.
  • Inspire support for our teams in Africa.
  • Send 100% of funds raised to our partner programs.

This month, April 2014, marks the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. It is a significant year, and the world media will broadcast story after story focusing on the events of 1994. While the rest of the world will be looking into Rwanda's past, we will be a voice that looks to their future. Now is the time to introduce the Rising from Ashes Foundation, and you can help us do it.

There are 4 simple ways you can help us today and throughout the month of April.

  1. Check out our new site and learn all about us.

  2. Raise awareness through social media.

  3. Donate to kickstart the Adrien Niyonshuti Cycling Academy.

  4. Host a screening as part of our "20 Screenings for 20 Years" campaign.

On Tuesday last week, during the 5th Annual Tour of Rwanda, those tears became tears of all consuming joy.

Bona's Smile

By Kimberly Coats

The day Team Rwanda won Stage 2 at the Tour of Rwanda last week was remarkable not only in the win and the story of Abraham and Valens, but later the same afternoon Bonaventure and I visited with staff from Operation Smile. Operation Smile hosts one to two missions per year in Rwanda and the last one in September was in our hometown of Musanze. They do much needed operations in the field of cleft lips and palates. Bona was born with this condition in 1993.
